Singapore AI Grants and Support: A Business Guide

Quick answer

Singapore AI grants support qualifying business improvement, technology and workforce activities. A grant is a form of conditional financial assistance for an approved purpose. Start with the business outcome, distinguish grants from tax incentives and development partnerships, then check the current activity rules, applicant criteria and permitted start before committing expenditure.

Prepare an operating baseline over 2 weeks before selecting a funding route. Support at a glance: the EIS AI-adoption category describes a 400% deduction for YA 2027 and YA 2028. For automation and digitalisation, the EDGE FAQ states up to 50% for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs; up to 70% for SMEs and 50% for non-SMEs applies to internationalisation and sustainability. These are different mechanisms; check the linked official conditions below.

This guide maps the main business-facing routes relevant to AI adoption and creative production. It is a starting directory, not a claim to list every sector-specific research call or to confirm that any particular purchase qualifies. Scheme details were checked on 28 October 2026.

Singapore AI grants: what changed for PSG, EDG and MRA?

Enterprise Singapore says new applications moved to EDGE from 30 September 2026. Existing submissions and projects under the earlier schemes continue through their respective processes. Treat older articles promoting a new PSG or EDG application as historical guidance. Enterprise Singapore: EDGE transition FAQ

A grant, a tax deduction and cloud credits are different

An approved grant can reimburse specified project costs subject to its terms. Cloud credits are usually restricted to particular services and periods. A tax deduction reduces the amount of income assessed for tax; it is not an equivalent cash refund.

IRAS lists an AI-adoption enhancement under the Enterprise Innovation Scheme for YA 2027 and YA 2028: a 400% deduction on up to S$50,000 of qualifying annual expenditure. The AI-adoption category has no cash-conversion option. Eligibility and expense classification matter more than the headline percentage. Have the company's tax adviser check the intended treatment. How Singapore supports AI development beyond funding

The National AI Strategy provides the broader policy direction. For a company, the useful connection is between technology, people and deployment: a model needs usable information, a responsible owner and a business process in which its output can be checked. A national initiative does not automatically approve an individual supplier or project. Smart Nation: National AI Strategy

Consider a distributor processing emailed orders. The improvement is not simply a chatbot subscription. It is a controlled route from an incoming document to a draft order, with product matching, an exception queue and staff approval. A useful funding brief explains that change and how the company will measure it.

Prepare a project brief before asking about funding

Write down the current process, its monthly volume, where errors occur and who spends time correcting them. Add the intended future process and define a measurable acceptance test. “Improve efficiency with AI” is too vague to guide either a supplier or an evaluator.

Separate one-time development, subscriptions, integration, staff training, ongoing support and creative deliverables in the scope. Ask the programme administrator which costs are relevant, which vendor restrictions apply and when work or payment may begin. Keep a record of other support sought for the same expenses.

Budget for the project without assuming an award. Decide whether it remains useful at a smaller scale if the preferred support route is unavailable. A disciplined pilot can establish value before a larger investment.

Can a marketing video or AI film receive funding?

Do not assume that using an AI tool makes a video commission an eligible technology project. Content production, workforce transformation and custom software development serve different purposes. Screen-content schemes also have their own creative, company and talent conditions. Check the precise activity or call before signing a production agreement.

For a production discussion, our AI video production page explains the creative work. For a recurring operational problem, see AI automation in Singapore.

Choose the route from the work, then read the matching guide. A build with cloud or co-development support is covered in custom AI development support. Staff change belongs in the AI training support guide. The operating design, before any application, is in AI workflow automation in Singapore.

Looking for a grant to make an AI film or microdrama?

Begin with the project outcome. Paying for a brand film, developing original screen content and implementing a reusable production system are different scopes. Our Singapore film and microdrama funding guide separates these routes and explains the status checks. Do not assume an AI subscription or a production invoice makes the entire project eligible for business support.

Questions businesses ask

Is AI Studio a grant administrator?

No. AI Studio can discuss an AI implementation or production brief. The relevant agency or programme operator decides eligibility, approved scope and support; this guide does not assert approved-vendor status.

Should we choose a tool because it has support?

Start with the operating problem and test the solution. Funding can improve the economics of a suitable project, but it does not establish accuracy, adoption or long-term maintainability.

What should we bring to the first conversation?

Bring one real workflow, a few permission-cleared sample inputs, the person who owns the process and the outcome you want to improve. Contact AI Studio to discuss a practical implementation scope, then verify funding separately with the programme administrator.

Can one business project involve more than one type of support?

Potentially, but each scheme has its own rules and the same cost must not be assumed eligible twice. Separate the project activities and ask the relevant administrator how any overlapping support is treated before committing expenditure.

Does using AI make a project eligible for support?

No. The business purpose, applicant, activity, costs and application timing matter. Describe the capability being built and check it against the current official criteria; a vendor’s use of an AI tool does not establish eligibility.

How we selected the Singapore AI grants and support routes

  1. We separated business transformation, custom development, workforce support and screen-content funding.
  2. We checked the named administering agencies and recorded the source date and eligibility limits.
  3. We kept grants, tax deductions, training support and cloud credits distinct so a business can ask the right programme owner.

Which Singapore AI grants route should you choose?

Choose by the activity you will fund, the applicant, and the current rules. A workflow rollout, a research project, training and a film need different evidence. Confirm the route before treating support as part of your budget.
